Postcard from Italy.

2015-08-02 ItalyPostcard from my son visiting Italy today via FB.   Those blue waters look very inviting!

La Scala crpd

La Scala opera house in Milan, lavish 18th century theater.

The theater was inaugurated on 3rd August 1778 with a capacity of 2,800.  La Scala is famous for Italian operas and ballets, with a museum and a music library.  While I was in Italy in 1993, I did have an opportunity to visit.  It was an afternoon visit and we just went on a tour.  The performers were in the middle of rehearsal for their evening performance. It was wonderful to sit and watch them rehearse for an hour in the splendour of this lavish theater.   I  can only imagine being all dressed up and attending a live performance of the opera.

Maria_Callas_(La_Traviata)_2                         Maria Callas  a  famous Soprano performing as Violetta in La traviata 1958.

Get dressed up and attend your local opera, many thrills await you.

You may be able to watch one on your television in your own living room.

Thank you son for sending me this postcard of Italy,  it brought back many pleasant memories for me of gone by  travels.

What about you, been traveling lately?   Share with me.
